Nivalis Energy Systems, a leading innovator in TRU electrification systems, has signed a non-exclusive dealer agreement with MCT Companies, marking a significant step forward in the deployment of clean transportation solutions for the cold chain logistics industry across California. Under the agreement, all MCT Companies locations in California will now offer the Nivalis TRU-Power ™ 6800 battery system. This proprietary system integrates state-of-the-art components, design, and manufacturing to deliver a cutting-edge electric trailer refrigeration unit (TRU) solution. TRU-Power ™ 6800 is engineered to pair seamlessly with Carrier Vector units, delivering a zero-emission refrigeration solution that meets the growing demand for sustainable fleet operations. With diesel prices remaining volatile and regulatory penalties increasing for emissions non-compliance, the shift to electric TRU technology offers a clear economic advantage through reductions in total cost of ownership. The collaboration between Nivalis Energy Systems, LLC and MCT Companies underscores a growing momentum in the refrigerated transport industry toward cleaner, quieter, and more efficient technologies that reduce harmful emissions without compromising performance.
Nuvve, a global leader in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology and grid modernization, has acquired the majority of Fermata Energy, another V2G platform provider. Nuvve’s newly formed subsidiary, “Fermata 2.0” is focused on scaling intelligent, bidirectional energy solutions. Key members of the Fermata team will join Fermata 2.0, bringing expertise in V2G integration, software development, OEM and utility engagement, regulatory strategy, business operations, and business development. The companies will continue to support and expand existing customer and partner relationships, ensuring collaborations are preserved and enhanced through the integration. By assimilating technologies, customers will receive a more scalable, flexible, and commercially powerful solution than they would otherwise.
Rivian has announced a nearly $120 million investment to build a 1.2 million square-foot supplier park in Normal, Illinois, to boost domestic development and production. Construction is underway and is expected to create 100 jobs upon completion next year. The goal of the park is to encourage suppliers to relocate to Normal to produce and provide components for Rivian closer to operations in Illinois. The state is providing Rivian with a $16 million incentive package to help support the project through a tax incentive program and capital grant support. Amidst tariffs that could raise costs on imported vehicles and auto parts, along with steel and aluminum, Rivian is the latest automaker to commit to boosting domestic production to hopefully keep costs as low as possible.
GM and LG Energy Solution have launched the “first-ever” lithium manganese-rich (LMR) prismatic EV battery cells, intended for upcoming GM EV models. While there are no EVs currently with LMR batteries, GM believes they’ve figured out a solution that allegedly unlocks 33% higher energy density than lithium iron phosphate batteries at a comparable cost. GM plans to use the new battery cells in future electric trucks and SUVs, aiming for 400+ miles of range with “significant battery cost savings.” GM and LG are planning to begin commercial production of LMR prismatic cells in the US in 2028.
An upcoming webinar by Turntide Technologies will review everything you need to know about lithium-ion batteries, from safety and reliability concerns to the key benefits of working with a certified battery manufacturer. Additionally, attendees will get a live 360-degree tech tour of Turntide’s certified battery technology. Register Here!
